Paid To Read Emails ( PTR ) Legit Or Pyramid Scheme?

There are literally thousands of Paid to Read Email Programs on the Internet. As with any other business opportunities some are legitimate while others are nothing more then scams.

The difference with Paid to Read Email Programs is they are free to join and you are not aware of the scam until it is time to cash out or request your payment.

Once you do request payment you either simply are not paid or your account is terminated. Some Paid to Read Email Sites will only pay you a percentage of what you have actually earned and others will not pay you at all.

Some tips to avoid wasting your time and money:

Do the math. If their ad prices are unsustainable or they do not revamp their ads to remain sustainable prices as the site grows, RUN! How can they afford to pay 10,000 members $.01 (10,000 x $.01 = $100) to read an email when the advertiser only paid $20 for the ad?

Do not upgrade until you have been paid at least once.

Write to the Web Master of the site before you spend money with them. Did they write you back?

Watch their advertising. If they are allowing ads from unsustainable scam sites or are slow in getting advertisements out that is usually a big red flag.

I was very interested to find during my research that there was so little negative written about Paid to Read Email Programs as a whole on the internet when they are nearly impossible to actually get paid from. On the other hand, when you do get paid and do the math to see how many hours you dedicated for that $10 payoff, it wasn’t worth it.

In reality the only way to make money is not by actually reading the emails but by getting people to join to read the emails. Take a look at how much they pay you to refer a new member.

3 Questions

So who is actually reading the emails?
Is anyone reading the emails?
How come all the advertising that you do receive is other Paid to Read Email Programs asking you to join?

I smell Pyramid Scheme!

Unfortunately The PTR World is abound of scams.

Some of them paid to their members at the beginning but then became unsustainable for some reason or other.

But there are a lot of sites which were created to lure credulous and inexperienced people. Admins of these sites never intended to pay. Some of them promise big money in the shortest time and don't answer to money requests. Other of them hide actual payment details in their Terms of Service which may include absolutely impossible or fantastic conditions.

They offer extremely low prices for ads - much lower than sustainable PTRs. That is a basis of their gain and existence. So
Dont' join them!
Don't advertise them!
Don't advertise in these sites because you support them in this way!

Here you find the Black List of PTR. I strongly advise against registration with these services. All these sites are either not paying member and/or even call in money, have an extremely bad support <if at all> or beeing ouright scams by cheating search engines with IFrames or use an illegal version of Cash Crusader script. Scammer gladly hush up their fraud by alleged owner changes due to which the user accounts must be put back or it is stated that the new operator does not care about the site and therefore no payouts can be made. In this way the legal responsibility of the webmaster is transferred to a fictitious other person.
The information gathered on this list was produced by members of these sites to be included on the list as
1. Not paying
2. Problems with the site and/or webmaster.

How to recognize Scam Sites?

- There are many sites out there which promise emails worth the likes of $5, $50 or $100 and upwards. DO NOT join any of these sites. These are ridiculous attempts to take your money and you will never see a penny. EXCEPTIONS are so called "Redemption Only" sites where you can redeem your money for advertising only.

- Check the advertising price to see if sites selling ads underprice. If for example, the site has 100 members and an email to all costs only $2 for a $10 link, you can clearly see that the site is underselling advertising. 100 members x $10 per member = $1,000. Therefore, the actual cost of the advertisement without taking into account the referral commission, comes to $1,000. If a site sells this link for only $2, the site is sustaining a loss of $988 per advertisement sold. This is only an example but please note that there are sites selling $10, $20 and even links worth hundreds of dollars for just $2 - $3. Basic mathematical skills will show you that such sites are totally unsustainable and therefore, short lived. If you wish to calculate how much the ad should cost, use the Sustainable Calculator.
